Make an informed choice. Most leadership development programmes deliver “disappointing results” because they are too theoretical, not personal or contextual enough, skills are not applied during or after training, skills are not modelled or reinforced, the training is offered too late for younger people managers, or it’s too expensive, too long or too lonely. Most also completely exclude coaching skills as a powerful approach or only address coaching at the most superficial level, for example, how to give feedback.
